Gender Differences Backed by Science

Here’s the article that got me started on this series about men.
Whether you’re a mom with sons, or a wife with a husband, or a daughter with a father, I’d like to remind my readers of the strengths of men and what we lose when we force them to be feminine.

Men are better at judging person’s size based on their voice, according to Benjamin Charlton from the University of Sussex.
Men have better spatial awareness.
(Which means, they think of objects in three-dimensions)
This helps with navigation.
The British Psychological Society Annual Conference showed 3 month-old infants show this difference.
In contrast, women are better locating specific items.
(Who do you ask when you lose something? Not dad!)
Women are better at remembering where things are, thus directions are given to women using landmarks.
Women worry more. (Is that a good trait?)
Women decipher colors better than men do.
(Like off-white versus real white)
Israel Abramov suspects sex hormones are behind the difference, since male sex hormones can alter development in the visual cortex.
Men handle lack of sleep better than women do.
(Lest you challenge me on this one, I know you as moms are up all night with your little ones, let me ask you, “Would you want a male surgeon who has been up all night on emergency call, or a female surgeon who has, operate on you?” I’d want a man, hands down.
Joey often would work all day, sleep an hour, drive through the night and work at the army all that next day. Sleep that night, but then turn around and work the following day, drive through the night and return to work the following day.
Not me!
Studies show men and women are evenly matched at multitasking, though results vacillate. As we age, this becomes more challenging for both genders.
Women outperform men when it comes to identifying emotions.
Men and women are equally matched in intelligence.

Men have bigger brains because they have bigger heads.
Size does not correlate to intelligence; experience or study does.
Historically, men’s IQ have been 5 points higher than women. Today, women are surpassing men in those tests. (More men now are not pursuing those degrees in science and medicine that bring that experience or study.)
Men tend to have more grey matter, whereas women have more white.
Women live longer than men.

(Though this is equalizing as more women take men’s jobs; shown by the increased risk of heart attacks and other “man dominated” risks of previous years.)

So what?
More examples of how we are created to complement our husbands not compete with them.
We are created to be their help-meets.

Just for fun, here’s a reprint to help those moms with sons.

Boys are better than girls!
(
Obviously written by boys. Some reflect the outdated article. I will restrain from inserting my own commentary on them.)

Boys work harder than a girl
Boys’ fart sound loud, but smells not stinky.
Boys are talented at sports.
Boys are handsome.
Boys didn’t boast.
Boys lives more than girls.
Boy’s hair smell better than girls.
Boys are faster.
Boys are creative.
Boys sing better.
Boys are good at video games.
Boys are powerful than girls.
Boys receive a lot of money.
Boys are peaceful.
Boys can have a lot of jobs.
Boys can be president.
Boys are stronger.
Boys have freedom.
Boys are more active.
Boys are good at surviving.
Boys have leadership.
Boys don’t wear pink clothes.
Boys are good at using computers.
Boys are funnier than girls.
Boys are enthusiastic.
Boys put on their clothes better.
Boys are brave.
Boys have better culture.
Boys are cooler.
_______

But after it’s all said, our Creator and God determines who we are and equips us for what He has for us to do. Aren’t you thankful?

I write about what matters...to you---
women, wives and moms---
about your family, faith and future.
I write about what's hard, what helps and what heals.
I show you how it's done. And not done.
I hold your hand as you find what matters to the Savior.
And let go of those things that mattered to you, but not to Him.
I write about what matters...to Him.

Very interesting, but it's always seemed to me that women are much better at multi-tasking. Or maybe it's just a necessary part of being a mother. I've always been the one in charge of making the household work, so my mind was always on a dozen different things that needed doing. Thankfully not as much now with the kids all grown, but my mind still whirls.

Wow, that boy writer was pretty cock sure of himself, wasn’t he! 😅
