Who Are You?
We have been looking at man’s meaning, being an image-bearer, and watchman.
Another important consideration that has become more prominent is who are you?
Man has sought to divide man.
We look at the color and create degrees of worth.
In Where do you find meaning?, we have shown by having God as the bases of our belief system, all men are created equal. All man has equal worth regardless of color, job, or other qualifier we want to use.
With this belief system, women are also elevated as equal to man.
In history as the belief system depended upon God as its base and listened to His Word, we found women were treated with respect and dignity equal to man.
But as man left the foundation of God, women were treated as property and dispensible.
As women performed the role which God has given to them, as help-meets, they were treated as queens in their role as help-meets.
But as women left their role as helpmeets and usurped what God had given man to do, they lost their value. They had to demand their rights.
When women forced themselves into the man’s role, they expected to be treated like a woman, in spite of the place they now worked—with men.
Men treat men directly, bluntly, even crudely without offense. Why? Because that is how men treat each other. But when a woman enters the dynamics, and men still treat men and now the woman the same way, the woman is insulted and takes offense.
Men must treat women differently, even though they are in the same role. The man is caught between trying to protect a woman (his God-given role) or like a man (and thought crude).
The result has been laws to regulate how men should treat women in the work place.
The answer does not lie with more laws.
The problem lies with the belief base.
Women are disobeying and ignoring God. They are out of their role.

But it doesn’t stop man’s rebellion against God.
Man seeks greater ways to shake his fist at God.
Man does not need woman as his help-meet. He could do it his way.
And women certainly do not need men. Why should she help him?
Homosexuality shows that rebellion.
What does God say of this rebellion?

"You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination." Leviticus 18:22-24.

But man is not finished shaking his fist at God.
Not only does man try to eliminate God’s roles, but man tries to change who God made him to be.
God made man—male and female.

"Haven't you read,'' He replied, 'that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,' and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what Go has joined together, let no one separate." Matthew 19:4-6.

Man attacks his manhood.

Schools today require teaching a non-gender approach in kindergarten. Instead of lining up in a boys’ line and a girls’ line, the child must decide what he/she/or what? wants to be today, depending upon what they feel like. Instead of two sexes—as God created male and female, man slurs the boundaries of male and female.

With technology and medical science, a man can be made to look like a woman.
Even with all these outward changes and inward hormones, God knows him as a man, because that is who God made him to be.
Man will act and think like a man, even though psychologists train him to respond like a woman. It will be forced.
It will not fulfill his inner desire.
Why?
Man is searching for meaning, worth, fulfilment in everything but God.
He will fail.
He is longing to be someone with value and worth.
He turns to everything, but God.
But it is only with God, he will find his worth and value.
It is not a desire to be “woman” that gives man fulfilment, but the desire to be God’s.

Where do the Christians fit into this spiral-downward?
As man loses his place, his roles, his identity—Christians must stand in the gap to show men and women have value in God’s sight.
Christians show love.
We give man hope in spite of his hopeless state.
Not hope by remaining where they are, but hope by looking to God.
We point them to our Savior.
He changes hearts. He brings conviction. He allows them to know the value of who they are because they are created in His image.
That brings wholeness, completeness, meaning.
That allows them to answer the question of who am I.
