Life’s Little Pleasures

Recently I was  struggling with “sitting at Jesus’s feet”.
I wanted to tell Him what I could do, instead of letting Him plan my life.
What He was asking of me was—well, impossible.
Our boys even told us.
Friends advised against it, ending with “I’ll be praying for you.” And that "glad it’s you and not me" look.
I didn’t want to do it either.
But I wanted to sit at Jesus’s feet. Accept His plan. And give Him glory.

We’ve talked about Taking Every Thought into Captivity to His Will.
How do you do that when your life will never be the same if you do what God asks you to do?
How do you change your thoughts to accept that?
As always, God gives the answer in His Word.

Give thanks.

Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving and perform your vows to the Most High.
And call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you; and you shall glorify Me.
The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies Me. Psalm 50: 14-15, 23.

Thankfulness and gratefulness bring glory to God.
As you give thanks, your heart calms.

Life’s Little Pleasures
A bubble that won’t pop
Eating sweet corn on the cob
Hearing the first bird sing in the day
When a flower you’ve watched finally opens 
Finding the frog that’s croaking
Finishing a good book
Seeing butterflies on flowers grown for them
Perfect timing on baking a batch of cookies
Crunching leaves beneath your feet 
Seeing a clear night sky
Watching the chicken chase a grasshopper
Drinking an entire cup of perfect tea while its hot
A cold drink on a hot day
The smell of fresh cut grass

I've enjoyed hearing their responses.
One video the baby laughing. (What is more pleasurable than that!)
Miriam's little pleasure: dipping her finger in sugar and licking it.
The feeling of passing a test after hours of studying.
The color green.
A drive and taking out the trash.
Watching the trees change color.
And others.
Little glimpses into their day.
What helped them as they struggled through their day.
Snapshots of how God helped them.
Their sharing brightened my day.

Gave me more reasons to give thanks!
